Pedaling for Parkinsons

Group Fitness for People with Parkinson’s Disease or MS

Exercise can make living with Parkinson’s disease more manageable. This class will include strength, balance, coordination and flexibility moves that are specifically selected for individuals with Parkinson’s or who are experiencing Parkinson’s like symptoms. Individuals taking this class must be able to walk and stand independently and get up off the floor.

Pedaling for Parkinson’s

Pedaling for Parkinson’s is an indoor stationary bicycle class designed specifically for people with Parkinson’s Disease. The class focuses on “forced exercise” — which uses an external source to help someone exert themselves longer and at higher intensities than they would be able to do on their own — to reduce symptoms in people with PD up to 35%. This program is as encouraging and fun as it is effective. For members only. For ages 30-75.

In order to demonstrate the reduction in symptoms, participants will answer pre-assessment questions (during registration) before beginning the program and quarterly assessments will be offered as a way to note progress. Participants will also need to bring a medical clearance and informed consent forms to their first class (available in registration).
