The Colorado Avalanche are pleased to announce a partnership with the NHL and NHLPA for the return of the Mile High Mites Learn to Play Hockey Program. Hosted by the Lafayette Locomotive Hockey Club at the YMCA of Northern Colorado, Mile High Mites provides a fun and effective program by delivering the game in an age-appropriate manner, consistent with USA Hockey ADM/LTAD models. For ages 5-9 years old.

Skating experience is highly recommended; the Y offers a Learn to Skate Hockey program that will prepare your future hockey player for Mile High Mites.

  • Full set of brand new fitted Bauer Gear that includes Mile High Mites jersey and stick, helmet, skates, gloves, pants, shoulder pads, shin guards, elbow pads and 30" equipment bag.
  • Hockey 101 for players and parents at Ball Arena (subject to availability)
  • One on-ice session will include Colorado Avalanche Alumni members, Milan Hejduk or John-Michael Liles, to teach the game and educate the players, coaches and parents (subject to Colorado Avalanche Alumni availability)
  • The program is available for players that are not currently rostered on a team and registration is based on that criteria. All player eligibility is subject to review and spots are not guaranteed until your player has been cleared by USA Hockey, CAHA and the Colorado Avalanche.
